The Power of Being Present
KŪ THOUGHT
"Presence is the foundation of a meaningful life."
Presence involves a shift from allowing your mind to wander to bringing your attention to the experience of what is happening right now. Often we allow our minds to wander to things we have no control over instead of focusing on the present moment.
KŪ REFLECTION
"I ka wÄ ma mua, ka wÄ ma hope" â The future is in the past.
During a family vacation, I constantly checked my phone and worried about emails I might get, missing out on enjoying the place and moments happening around me. Realizing this, I decided to disconnect and be fully present. The result? I created memories that are now etched in my heart forever. Being present allowed me to truly experience the joy of being with my Ê»ohana, something that would have been lost if I hadnât chosen to engage fully.
"Be where your feet are, fully engaged in the moment." â Anonymous
KŪ ACTION
Practice mindfulness and being present by focusing on your senses during daily activities. Notice what you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel.
CHECK YOUR MANA
Assess your focus this week. Are you present in the moment, or are distractions pulling you away? Recenter yourself as needed.
Living KŪ is the continuous practice and effort of standing tall, being grounded, and existing. This sort of presence enriches every experience during our journey in life. It creates space for deeper connections and meaningful actions.
