How many of you had a menehune steal your slipper at the last family pa’ina?
At one point in your life, you left your precious slippers outside the door with the rest of the pile only to leave aunty’s house to find out that someone cockroached your slippers.
Auwe.
So what do you do?
You slip on the closest pair that fits you, say “Shoots den”, and run. Maybe not everyone does that but we are sure there a few menehunes reading this who have.
Next time you go to a party and leave your slippers outside, do this one simple thing:
- Turn them upside down
You don’t need to bend down to flip them over, although you can, but that’s why you have toes.
You may have to practice a couple times if you don’t have gecko toes, but always makes sure you grab from the inside strap and turn to the outside.
Step 1: Grab inside strap with your big toe and second toe
Step 2: Lift and flip the slipper outward
Not only will this technique make your slippers less likely to be “borrowed”, but it doesn’t give the Slippah Menehune enough time to cockroach your slippers.
People don’t realize just how important slippers are to us.
It’s Hawaii’s most versatile footwear. We wear them to work, parties, beach, and falls under the okay category for business casual.
Plus if you have pair of HAYN Slippers, you guarantee don’t want them to grow a pair of feet and walk away.
Remember the technique:
PINCH ‘EM —> LIFT ‘EM —> FLIP ‘EM
A hui hou!
