How to Cope with Stress and Anxiety with Coach Alyssa Chang

Have you ever felt you couldn’t you get in control of your health? You try countless diets, exercise routines, or that new detox some celebrity is talking about. “With the health industry currently saturating the market with “quick fix” and “cookie cutter” approaches,” says Coach Alyssa Chang on her website, “I aim to challenge these “norms” by taking a whole human approach to health.”
Her holistic approach breathes fresh air into a crowded space of health and wellness. It was a great honor to talk stories with Coach Alyssa and learn more about her approach to health and her journey of personal growth and discovery.
In this episode, she touches upon brain-based training, becoming aware of your personal stressors, being mindful of your “Threat Buckt” and more neuroscience concepts to help you focus on working in before you begin working out.
Alyssa Chang is a brain-based health and movement specialist who is based out of Kailua, Oahu. After graduating from college and being a collegiate athlete, she needed to fill the void of competition and took on the challenge of competing in a figure competition.
Through the process, she realized there were aspects to her health that weren’t being fulfilled through strenuous training and strict dieting. “In 2010, I reached a peak level of conditioning,” she shares, “but one that left me questioning whether transforming my body could lead to a sustainable and happy life.”
From that experience, she began learning about neuroscience to help others improve their connection between the brain and body. She’s on a mission to encourage people to “better listen, trust and befriend their bodies.
She believes small and subtle lifestyle shifts can create new solutions.
