9 Best Kettlebell Exercises for Beginners to Learn

I began training with kettlebells back in 2004.

Whoa.

Kettlebells are an effective piece of equipment to add to your workout routine if you are interested in using them. But in no way are they the “best” tool. They are just another tool.

When it comes to training with kettlebells, too often people watch a video of a cool kettlebell exercise such as the snatch and immediately add it to their workouts without knowing how to perform the exercise properly or have the strength for that movement.

I decided to put together 9 of my top kettlebell exercises for beginners. These kettlebell exercises lay the foundation of my training as well as the basic movements I coach.

1. Kettlebell Deadlift
2. Kettlebell Russian Swing
3. Kettlebell Goblet Squat
4. Kettlebell Reverse Lunge
5. Off Set Kettlebell Squat
6. Kettlebell Clean
7. Kettlebell Shoulder Press
8. Kettlebell Snatch
9. Kettlebell Gorilla Row

The kettlebell clean and snatch is considered more on the advance level but is still considered to be foundational kettlebell exercises beginners should learn.

As with many strength exercises, it’s important to build stability in a movement before you perform more dynamic exercise such as learning the kettlebell deadlift before doing kettlebell swing to minimize risk of injury.

While these exercises are considered to be for beginners, they are still staples in my own kettlebell training. Why?

Because you cannot stray far away from the basics – even the most advanced kettlebell trainees build upon the foundational movements.
