Episode 093: Coach Alyssa Kahapea of Pali Ke Kua Wellness

Remember, when we take time to take care of our health, we empower others to do the same.

In this episode, I talk stories with Coach Alyssa Kahapea of Pali Ke Kua Wellness.  Seeing her family experience health issues made her want to stay more active and in control of her health. But then a sports injury happened to Alyssa and she found her health spiraling out of control.

During our episode, she shares that an agreement between her and her grandfather sparked her new journey of health.  Then during school, she was introduced to working the ʻāina and learning about lāʻau lapaʻau which made her feel more connected and grounded.

As Native Hawaiians, we are constantly confronted with the idea that we are destined for bad health because of our family health history.  “I had to let go of the idea that I was genetically “unlucky” because there is so much we CAN control” she shares.

And that is so true.

I really hope you take the time to listen to this episode and hear Coach Alyssa’s story because I believe many of you can relate to it.  I did.  On top of a great story, the two of us also talk about simple and practical fitness and health tips you can easily begin to incorporate into your lives.  It comes down to creating small healthy habits that you do consistently which makes the biggest impact in your life.
