KU BODY TIP: ACTIVATION LAT DRILL

We all have tight muscles, especially in our upper back.  We tend to hold all of our tension and stress in your neck, shoulders, and upper back (rhomboids).

When performing vertical pulling exercises like lat pulldowns and pull-ups, the muscle that carries the most tension is the one that will take over the movement.  This is why it’s important to become more aware of what muscles are being utilized during a movement.

Many feel their shoulders, arms, and neck receiving most of the work while doing a lat pulldown.  Here’s a simple way to slow things down to make sure you are activating the lats to ensure you are working the proper muscles.
