American Barbell Kettlebell Review

Kettlebells are a must have, especially in a home gym.  They are versatile, take up minimal space, and offer a type of load that is completely different from a typical barbell or dumbbell.

But one of the worst things about being in Hawaii when it comes to fitness equipment is the shipping.  You know what I mean.  The infamous – Free shipping only within the 48 contiguous states.  When you do look at how much it costs to ship to Hawaii, it comes out to cost just as much as the piece of equipment.

No way. Crazy.

Luckily, I found out about Total Fitness USA a couple years ago which makes me feel like a little kid back in grade school running into 7-Eleven to get that Slurpee and Spam musubi.  Although it is more expensive than what you’d find online, you don’t have to worry about the crazy shipping costs.

Anyways, I digress…

Back to the American Barbell Kettlebell. First of all, cast iron is the way to go.  I thought the American Barbell Kettlebell had good texture to it particularly on the handle.  The kettlebells are color coded by weight.  I purchased the 16kg Kettlebell which has two yellow bands around the handle.

I have no particular bias towards brands.  When I am looking for kettlebells I look for the convenience of purchase (hence Total Fitness USA), it being cast iron, and the consistency in hand thickness.  I’ve come across some brands where the handles are of different sizes.  Not cool.

My overall thought about the American Barbell Kettlebell is that it is well made, sturdy, and like I mentioned – I like the texture of the cast iron.

I am planning on adding more kettlebells to the arsenal over time.  Who knows, American Barbell may read this one day and send us a whole set.

Now that would be Kū.
