The #1 Reason Why You Can’t Keep The Weight Off

men weight gain

You may have to take a seat and eat a bit of humble pie because many people don’t want to hear this but it’s the damn truth.

First, how many times have you tried to lose weight?  You go on this exercise or diet kick where you go all gung-ho because something or someone promises you that you will lose X amount of weight by X amount of time.

You know what I’m talking about:

  • Lose 20 pounds in 4 weeks (usually some sort of bootcamp)
  • Get a six pack in 8 weeks (usually some sort of magazine article)
  • Shredded in 6 weeks (usually some sort of other bullshit)

and a bunch more promises which aren’t all exactly lies because it depends.  For instance, there have been many people to lose a ton amount of weight during 4 week bootcamps.  I’ve seen some people exceed the 20 lbs.

But, and this is a huge BUT…

The main thing you have to think about is what happens after.

That is what no one talks or even thinks about.  All people worry about is getting all nuts for the prescribed time because they want to get their instant gratification and if X weeks is what it takes, then so be it.

A few things happen after the time is up though:

  1. You are tired after getting your ass kicked or following a certain diet for X amount of weeks, so you give yourself a “break”.  This usually means you go back to the old habits to where you felt more comfortable and the weight finds its way back on.
  2. You follow the X amount of weeks plan but didn’t see the result you expected or promised. So you blame the program or your genetics and go back to being a lazy ass.
  3. You are super stoked that you reached your goal and think all is good.  So you kick exercise and nutrition out the door because you have a new sexy bod.  2 months later you are bigger than you were before you lost the weight in the first place and you are like , “WTF!”
  4. You continue to exercise, adapt a healthy active lifestyle, and go on your merry way.

Usually the first three mentioned are the most common while the last one maybe happens to a select few.

It all comes down to the #1 Reason why you can’t keep the weight off and that’s…PATIENCE.

“Are you serious Aipa? All that and you tell us it’s just patience?”

Are you sitting down?

Good.

Yes, it’s patience.

Because if you were patient, it’s highly unlikely that you would be having this problem.

If you were patient, then you would understand that things that promises quick fixes in X amount of time trigger your fears, desires, and needs to achieve a certain goal but faster than you can wait.

If you were patient, then you wouldn’t be doing detoxes, wraps, and trying any other bullshit that says you’ll lose weight overnight and improve your sex appeal.

So yea, it is patience.

And another thing.

As sad as this sound, people really don’t give a damn about their health enough.  If they did, we wouldn’t be having a such a health problem in Hawaii and among Native Hawaiians who by far have the worse health out of all the ethnicities in Hawaii.

Is this a rant? Hell no.

It’s the truth.

How’s that humble pie tasting?

When you can be honestly patient for what you want to honestly achieve, then you will be able to work on the proper process and develop the essential habits and learnings for making sure you keep your goals.

What’s the use of having a goal that you have to work for over and over again?

That’s insane.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
– Albert Einstein

When you are patient and focus on the process, not only do you achieve your goal but you learn more about yourself along the way.  When you reach a goal without paying attention to the process, the goal feels empty and leaves you unfulfilled.

Be patient, learn, develop the necessary habits, and build a Kū body in order to live a Kū life.
