Review: Rogue Fitness Y-1 Yoke Rack

When I thought about what would be my next purchase to add to my home gym which is also where athletes of Kū Performance Hawaii train out of, I knew I needed a rack.

At that point, we were using homemade jerk boxes for everything.

The first place I decided to look was Rogue Fitness because their equipment is seen everywhere, and although I’m not a CrossFit Box, I like the look of their stuff.

As I searched through the racks, I knew I wanted something that could be easily moved around, didn’t take up much space, and could be used in more ways that I could think of.  I’m all about efficiency and versatility.

It was no wonder that when I came across the Rogue Fitness Y-1 Yoke Rack, it was somewhat of love at first site.  yoke-y-1-lg

Isn’t she a beauty.

Anyways, let’s dive in to what I like about this piece of equipment:

  • It looks strong and tough.  I even get comments from people who walk down the street and sees us training with it in the driveway. Plus, anything black and red is good in our book.
  • The Y-1 Yoke Rack can be easily moved around.
  • I live close to the beach and it is withstanding all the salt air and rain.
  • The 1 inch and 2 inch hole spacings are very thoughtful.
  • Having the ability to turn it into a sled has opened up a whole new level of exercises for us.
  • We can perform a ton of exercises with this one piece of equipment (Squats, Overhead Press, Bench Presses, Zercher Carries, Yoke Walk, Deadlift, Sled Pulls and Pushes, and more)
  • We can attach our Jungle Gym XT to the Crossbar

Parts of the Y-1 Yoke I dislike:

  • It’s a bit short.  If you are over 5’10”, you will hit your head on the crossbar when you perform a back squat.  So front squats have become a mainstay in our training which isn’t really a bad thing.
  • Adjusting the Crossbar does take a bit of work, sometimes it easy and sometimes it can be a pain in the ass, especially when you are training alone.

Overall Thoughts

If you are looking for an all-in-one option for your garage gym, then the Y-1 Rogue Yoke by Rogue Fitness is a strong choice.  All the athletes who train at The Kū Project enjoy using it and are amazed at all the different exercises we can do with the rack.

The Y-1 Rogue Yoke is definitely Kū Certified and highly recommended to anyone who wants an addition to their garage gym that’s versatile, mobile, efficient, and looks damn tough.

If you used the Y-1 Rogue Yoke, please leave your comments on what you thought of the equipment in the comment section below.
