Killer Combo for Pulling and Leg Strength

Have you ever heard of Exercise Economy?

When I talk about Exercise Economy, I am referring to selecting exercises and training methods that allows you to train efficiently, get the quickest results, and in the shortest amount of time.

Yes, hard work and patience is spoken about a lot on the here and I do believe that “short cuts lead to short term resuluts.”  This is different. This is about approaching training with the idea of getting the most bang from your buck.

ALL EXERCISES WERE NOT CREATED EQUAL.   Remember that.  Actually, write that down because that is one of the aspects of how we train that is woven throughout all of our training.

Let’s take the deadlift.  It’s a very “economical” exercise because it involves a ton of muscles during the movement; upper back, glutes, hamstrings, forearms, quads, traps, and core.  The deadlift alone can take the place of many other nonessential exercises that people spend too much time doing.

So if we simplify it even more, we see Exercise Economy being dependent on the amount of muscles being worked during a given movement or exercise.  The more muscles used, the more economical the exercise is which will then make your training session all that more efficient.

Killer Combo for Pulling and Leg Strength

In light of Exercise Economy, try this combo out.  It’s a standing rope pull which engages your back, core, hamstrings, glutes, and core combined with a Prowler Push.  During the prolwer push you go at a slow pace emphasizing the drive into the ground.  Going slower forces you to maintain proper position and increases the duration of force application and body tension.

Do the rope pull for 15 yards and push the sled back for 15 yards.  Perform 4-5 rounds of these with 1 minute rest in between rounds.
