3 Tips on How to Find Inner Peace

You don’t have to go to far away places or some luxury wellness retreat to find inner peace.  Getting away and making time to relax is great, but what about the moments when we need inner peace during the hectic times we find ourselves in our everyday life?

Like that moment when someone abruptly cuts you off in traffic or even worse doesn’t shaka back after you let them into the lane.

We all have peace within ourselves.  It’s like a reservoir that’s waiting to be tapped in to but we don’t know how to access it.  Learning ways to tap into our inner peace is also just like anything else – it takes practice and the more you work on it the better you become.

3 Tips to Find Inner Peace

Below you’ll find three tips that’ll help you find inner peace and get better at calming yourself during moments you need to access that power.

Embrace Mindfulness:

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of thoughts and worries. Take a moment to slow down, breathe deeply, and bring your attention to the present moment. This reminds me of the Hawaiian word Ahonui, which means Patience, but it also literally means a long breath.  You can practice mindfulness right now where you are by taking a deep breath and observing your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Allow yourself to fully experience each moment, whether it’s sipping a cup of coffee, taking a walk in nature, or sitting with someone you love. By cultivating mindfulness, you can create a sense of calm and peace within yourself.

Prioritize Self-Care:

It’s important to take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Making time in your schedule for activities that nourish and recharge your Mana is essential. Engage in hobbies or activities that bring you joy and relaxation.  Maybe it’s painting, gardening, cooking, writing, going for a hike, or surfing but do something that brings you joy. Remember to set boundaries and not be afraid to say “No,” when needed.  Too often we feel stretched thin or overwhelmed because we feel the need to say “Yes” to everything that comes our way. Learning how to say “No” is important as this allows you to prioritize your well-being and create clarity within your mind. By making self-care a priority, you can cultivate inner peace and strengthen your overall resilience.

Cultivate Gratitude:

Gratitude is a powerful tool that can shift your focus from what’s lacking in your life to what you already have. Take a few moments each day to reflect on the things you are grateful for, whether they are big or small. It could be a supportive friend, a beautiful sunset, or even a warm cup of coffee in the morning. By practicing gratitude, you develop a positive mindset and invite more positivity and contentment into your life. Remember, the relationship you have with yourself affects the other relationships you have.  Taking an approach of gratitude helps create a positive and nourishing relationship with yourself.  This simple practice can bring a sense of inner peace and help you appreciate where you are.

Remember, finding inner peace is a journey, and it’s different for everyone. It’s not always an easy journey, but it is one that is worth the work. Make sure to be patient and kind to yourself as you explore these tips and discover what works best for you.
