Bose SoundSport Review: Workouts Going Wireless

Technology is amazing.  It continuously changes the way we live.  Sometimes for the better.  Sometimes for the worse, but as John C. Maxwell said, “Change is inevitable.”

I am usually working at home, Chad Lou’s in Kailua, or wherever I can grab free Wi-Fi while I’m out.  I always have headphones on to help me escape from the outside world, sometimes I just have them on with no music, to help me focus.  It acts as my “Do Not Disturb” sign.  When I head to the gym to train and want to be left alone, I put my headphones on.

I would use my Apple EarPod and every once in awhile have a YouTube fail moment when my wire gets caught around a bar, gets yanked out of my ear, head whiplashes back, and I act like nothing happened.  You are probably thinking, “Well why not just put the wire under your shirt?”  Here’s a perfect reason.  I tuck my shirt in most of the time.  It’s an old coaching habit.

For quite some time I wanted wireless headphones that I could use while creating on the computer and attacking a training session.  As I asked around and hunted the internet, Christmas came and to my surprise a much smarter person, my wife, made a decision for me and got me the Bose SoundSport.

She knows me well because as much as you see everyone in 24 Hour Fitness wearing Beats, I’m not a fan of bulky headphones unless I’m just laying around listening to music which rarely happens.

The headphones come with ear pieces in three different sizes which I thought was very thoughtful.  They are a snug fit in the ear with a nice cushion. There is a little clip on the wire that can be clipped onto your lapel to keep the wire from moving around while performing dynamic movements like Cleans and Snatches.  Once you turn it on, a voice tells you how much battery is left and what devices are connected to the headphones.  You can have up to two devices connected to the headphones.  This is huge because there are times when I switch between working on my phone and computer.

The audio performance is strong.  While exercising, the earbuds don’t move around and are comfortable to wear.  Another big win for these headphones are the fact that they are sweat and weather resistant.  That’s important for me because I get pretty damn sweaty when I train.

Here I am doing a Clean Complex with the Bose SoundSport:

What else? Oh ya, it comes with a USB charger and in three different colors. So if you are looking for wireless headphones that are meant for performance and comes with comfort, then you should check out the Bose SoundSport.

If you have any questions, ask away.  I’m not going to bullshit you.
