Guest Writer Submissions

The Kū Project is always looking for fresh and new content from Hawaii writers and creatives interested in Fitness, Health, Nutrition, and the Ku Lifestyle.  However, we want quality, so we can be picky.

We want to make sure our content truly brings value and benefits our readers. If you have a great story or thought, we are all ears (actually, eyes because we’ll be reading it).

But to make sure that we are all on the same page and this is the right place for you.  There are a few submission rules when it comes to becoming a contributing writer on The Kū Project because we are serious about our environment.

But before we continue here are a few other thoughts.

We believe strength is contagious. We appreciate exercise tips and workouts; personal essays about major transformations; advice pieces with actionable tips to improve health, happiness, relationships, communication, and nutrition; pieces specific fitness routines that must first go through our Fitness Director.

Pretty much – If it’s not about living Kū, it’s probably not for us.

Guide for Submission

1. You Want to Be Kū.

We are trying to do something big here, like build a stronger and healthier Hawaii.  We care about the content that we put out there and are passionate about our cause and mission.  The Kū Project is dedicated towards creating a revolution of strength and health within the islands.  We focus on young adults, between the ages of 25-40 who are in the workforce or creating their own business/side project and are looking for tools to get healthy, fit, strong, and motivated.

2. You Want to Help Others

We are dedicated towards helping others by sharing stories and thoughts that empower others to become stronger.  You are the expert and we want you to share you story and ideas with our lāhui (tribe).  As experts, it’s your obligation to be a leader and teacher.

3. Craft it For Us.

Make sure whatever you are submitting to us, fits into what we are about.  If it’s an article that you have drafted and sent out to several other sites, your submission will not be considered for TKP and we can smell those sorts of articles out.

4. Looking For Solid Content

Our editors are hard at work making sure the content that goes out is solid.  This means:

  • No spelling or grammar errors
  • The content is original and hasn’t been used anywhere else
  • The content fits our blog and benefits our lāhui.

We understand there may be a few mistakes and we are totally cool with that.  But please make sure you respect our time and proofread before you send us your article.

5. Be Creative

We like different spins on topics. If you can position an idea in a way that our readers can relate to and benefit from, then we’ll be more than happy to consider the article.  We like venturing outside of our box.

We accept more than just article submissions.  As long as it’s creative and gives value, has meaning, and is Kū.  It’s cool with us.  That means we also accept videos, graphics, and other creative media that tells a story.

Other things we need from you…

If your article is chosen to be published on TKP, we want to make sure we give you the credit you deserve for your awesome work.  In order to do so, you need the following prepared:

AUTHOR HEADSHOT – We need a picture of you. Make sure it’s a quality picture and not all funny kine.

AUTHOR BIO – Please include a brief bio paragraph (150 word limit) about yourself, including links to any sites, products, or social media outlets you’d like us to mention (up to 3 links total).
