Steel Mace Paddle Lunge Combo

I’m still figuring out this Steel Mace thing.  So for we’ve been implementing several exercises with the Steel Mace and this combo is the newest addition to the tool box.

This exercise was inspired by canoe paddling.

It’s a movement pattern that consists of a paddling motion using extension and rotation with a lunge. As you get to the top of the paddling motion in the lunge, you have to decelerate the movement of the steel mace while in a split stance.

I am calling it the “Steel Mace Hoe Lunge”, because hoe in Hawaiian means to paddle.  In the video I’m using a 5kg Steel Mace and it seemed to do the job.  I did try it with our 10kg Steel Mace but for it being a new movement pattern to learn, it was a little awkward but just have to give it time.

If you have a Steel Mace, give it a try.  You may just like it.
