KB Trio Pushup

It’s not about what you have, it’s about what you do with what you have.

Since, we’ve stopped training out of the facility in Kaneohe we found ourselves back at where we started – my family’s driveway back in Kailua.  The thought from going to a fully equipped facility with top of the line equipment back to a driveway with very minimal equipment would probably make most people freak out.  But for us, we can train Ku anywhere we go because it’s not that equipment that makes us.  It’s the mentality.

Anyways, we don’t have a bench for bench press so we do a bunch of floor presses and different pushup variations.  One day, one of the guys was playing around with pushup variations and asked, “What if we did this?”

I responded, “Looks Ku to me.”

Enter the Kettlebell Trio Pushup.  Here’s how to do it:

  1. Set up three kettlebells in a triangle formation.
  2. The objective of this combo is to perform pushups in three different positions for 5-10 pushups at each position.
  3. The first position of pushups is with both hands on the top kettlebell which feels like a dumbbell squeeze press
  4. The second position of pushups is with your hands on two of the kettlebells.
  5. The last position of pushups is with your hands on the ground performing pushups with chest to the floor.

Performing pushups on kettlebells forces you to maintain tension in your body in order to keep stable on the kettlebells.  To add another level of difficulty, after performing pushups on the ground, work your way back up to the top of the triangle.
