30 Ways to Be Kū and Not Like Everyone Else

ku aipaDo you feel confident in yourself?

Are you a Sunday jerk, and can’t stand going to work on Monday?

Are you still looking for that next magic formula that helps you lose weight, gain muscle, and detox you?

Does your training consists of compound movement, bodyweight exercises, and a ton a sweat or are you looking for the easy way out?

Do you wake up it the morning slamming the alarm clock and cursing at the sun?

I don’t accept mediocrity or just cruising through life.  I condone hard work, discipline, consistency, and purpose.

There’s always an easy way out or way to “just cruise” and throw back a few green bottles like everyone else.

OR

You can choose to be Kū and not be like everyone else.  You can choose to change your environment and travel along the road less traveled towards building a Kū body and living Kū.

As on of my favorite writers, James Allen, wrote:

Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.

So how can you start?

Here are 21 ways towards becoming Kū:

  1. Find joy in learning
  2. Eat for health, longevity, and performance.  Don’t make crash diet a habit, they wreck your body in the long term.
  3. Eat more veggies, because mom said so and it honestly does make you healthier.
  4. Cut out processed foods.
  5. Minimize on alcohol consumption or cut it out totally.
  6. Drink plenty water
  7. Create a morning routine that helps you start the day on the right foot.
  8. Get to bed at a decent hour to allow for 6-8 hours of sleep.
  9. Get off the phone and computer at least one hour before bed.  The blue light in the screen over stimulates your pineal gland and messes with your ability to sleep.
  10. Create a night routine that settles your body down by reading a book, cold shower, meditation, etc.
  11. Don’t compare yourself to others, you’ll never win.
  12. Remember your “pleases” and “thank yous”.  You can never say them enough.  And it’s “yes”, not “ya”.
  13. Declutter the excess shit in your life that is weighing you down.  That means furniture, clothes, and other superfluous material things.
  14. Be mindful of the people you surround yourself with.
  15. Start training your body to be healthy and strong.
  16. Use barbells, kettlebells, gymnastic rings, dumbbells, sandbag, and other strongman equipment to build a strong, functional, and damn good looking physique.
  17. Don’t over analyze your training and nutrition.
  18. Eating 3-4 meals a day is okay.  You don’t have to have 6 meals a day anymore.  It’s okay.
  19. Invest in the most expensive mattress, sheets, and pillows you can afford.  Supposedly, it’s where you spend a third of your life.
  20. Train heavy and explosive in a safe manner.  If you get hurt, you can’t train.  If you can train, you can’t build Ku body.
  21. Make building Kū body and living a Kū life a part of your lifestyle.
  22. Focus on a few things that’ll make the biggest difference instead of playing around with hundreds of other things.
  23. Keep a journal of your thoughts, ideas, training log, and things you are grateful for.  Always try to improve over time.
  24. Be patient.
  25. Read a damn book.  Seriously.  Read a book.
  26. Understand that you have a unique story to tell that can influence and empower others.
  27. Make strength contagious by becoming a symbol of strength
  28. Get rid of negative people in your life.
  29. Remember Aloha means so much more than “hello” and “good-bye”. Aloha isn’t a sign of weakness.
  30. Don’t forget to be YOU.  BE KŪ.
